The skin on our hands is often overworked and overlooked, but with this simple formula soft and silky hands are only minutes away. Here, cornmeal works as a gentle exfoliant, milk plays the role of moisturizer and honey steps in as the emollient.
INGREDIENTS
* 1/4 cup cornmeal
* 3 tablespoons hemp milk (or milk of your choice)
* 1 tablespoon honey
* 1 drop vanilla extract or essential oil (optional)
1. In a small saucepan, stir in the milk and cornmeal and simmer over low heat until thickened into a loose paste. Remove from heat, allow to cool and stir in honey and extract or oil, if using.
2. Massage mixture into hands and allow to sit for 10 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.

* 3 tablespoons jojoba oil
* 1 tablespoon mango butter
* 1 tablespoon grated beeswax
* ¼ cup rosewater (or filtered water)
* 10 drops lavender essential oil
* 5 drops sweet orange essential oil
Warm jojoba oil, mango butter and beeswax gently over low heat until beeswax melts. Remove from heat. Warm rosewater over low heat. Remove from heat. When both mixtures are lukewarm, slowly pour liquid into oil, beating steadily with a wire whisk or an electric beater set on the lowest speed until cool, thick and smooth. Stir in essential oils. Imagine this: relaxation, revitalization and refreshment–not to mention good health and pretty feet–all in a few minutes. With our quick tips for easy foot soaks you can reap the rewards of a full spa treatment without leaving the house. For an infusion of bliss, try one: these special soaks will leave you walking on air.
The secret ingredient for our fabulous foot soaks is the ever-humble Epsom salt. It is a powerhouse of magnesium and sulfates, which both boast remarkable resumes of health-boosting functions—-and both are best absorbed through soaking. A plain soak in Epsom salts and warm water is wonderful enough, but try these inclusions to add some pizzazz to your step. Bonus: for a massage with your soak, add some smooth river rocks (or marbles) to the bottom of your soaking tub—-rubbing your toes and soles over warm rocks is sure to induce “mmmmmmm”s.
Basic Foot Soak
Soothe aches, remove odors, and soften rough skin with this basic foot soak. Add 1/2 cup of Epsom Salts to a large pan of warm water. Soak feet for as long as it feels right. Rinse and dry.

The fumes from the solvents in nail polish can be overwhelming, and they are not good for you. There are few environmentally safe nail polishes or nail polish removers on the market. Some still contain toluene (toxic) and formaldehyde (a known carcinogen), and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), a hormone disrupter. (The Body Shop now offers some safer options.)
The Natural Manicure
File, wash and soak nails, soften cuticles, clean and shape cuticles
File in one direction only, and always do this when your nails are dry. Wash your hands and soak in warm water or a fruit acid solution such as buttermilk or organic apple cider vinegar, before applying a cold-pressed fruit or nut oil into the cuticle area near the half-moon at the base of the nail. Use the blunt end of an orangewood manicure stick to gently push the cuticles back from the nails.
Sand and buff nails
Dry your hands completely. Sand and polish the top of each nail with a fine pumice-stone sand stick to remove any ridges. Do the same thing with a fine-grit block. Once the ridges are removed, smooth the top of the nail with a smoothing file and a buffing chamois. You’d be amazed at how shiny your nails will look following these steps, almost as if you were wearing a clear polish. You can choose a more natural, less-shiny matte finish if preferred, by not using the finest grade buffing files.

Mix together 8 strawberries with 2 tablespoons of olive oil (or safflower oil) and 1 teaspoon of kosher salt.
Other varieties: Add 1/2 teaspoon of finely chopped almonds. Make a paste with the ingredients but don’t over blend it since the strawberries contain so much water it will make it too liquidy. Massage it all into your feet, rinse off and dry.
