Germs - Yuck!

We all know that germs are everywhere and can make your or your family very sick.  They come from the food we eat, the bathroom, and even your family and friends.  Here are a few tips to help keep the germs away from your family so they can stay happy and healthy.

Nothing is better for getting rid of germs than washing your hands with good old soap and water.  It’s important for you and your family to wash your hands after cooking, after using the restroom, when you’re sick, or after anything else that gets your hands dirty.

It’s important to not only wash your hands, but to do it properly.  You should always remember to use soap and warm water.  Once your hands are wet and soaped up, you should rub them while counting to 20.  When you’re done, rinse your hands and dry them with a clean towel.  Use a towel to turn the faucet off so you don’t get all the old dirt back on your hands.  While you may be tempted to use anti-bacterial soaps, these can actually strengthen some bacteria instead of killing them.  Regular soap will do the job just fine.

A child younger than ten can experience a headache.  Many adults that suffer from recurring headaches or migraine report they began having them before the age of 10.  If your child tells you that he or she has a headache and the complaint should not be dismissed.

But what if your child does not tell you or does not recognize the symptoms of a headache?  You as a parent or guardian should look for warning signs there is something wrong with your child.

Of course, any change in your child’s behavior should be looked at but there are a few specific items that may suggest a headache.

Staying active during your pregnancy can help to keep you feeling good not only about your health but about your body image as well. Exercise tends to increase your sense of control over your body. Doing your exercise routines will also increase your energy level. Feeling energetic always feels better than being fatigued.

During your pre-natal appointment you will discuss with your healthcare provider the level of fitness you had prior to getting pregnant. Your current health status will also impact how much and what types of exercise will be appropriate for you to do during pregnancy.
